SLINT set for Belfast Summer show

63209-slint-speelt-exclusieve-belgische-show-in-trix-994167American rock band Slint have confirmed a Belfast show playing Limelight 2 on August 18th 2014.

Though largely overlooked during their relatively brief lifespan, Slint grew to become one of the most influential and far-reaching bands to emerge from the American underground rock community of the 1980s; innovative and iconoclastic, the group’s deft, extremist manipulations of volume, tempo, and structure cast them as clear progenitors of the post-rock movement that blossomed during the following decade.
The bands recorded output, comprising just two full length LP’s: “Tweez” and “Spiderland”, is considered a crucial influence of countless rock & post-rock band, ranging from Pavement to Mogwai.
While Slint disbanded in 1992, the individual members remained extremely productive, contributing to seminal bands like The Breeders, Palace, Tortoise & many more. The band reunited officially in 2007 for a well received run of concerts.
Touch & Go Records have compiled a ambitious expanded edition of Spiderland, remixed by Shellac bassist Bob Weston, which is release on June 24th. The new edition also includes a DVD of “Breadcrumb Trail”, a documentary by Lance Bangs about Slint and the making of Spiderland; the film also received a theatrical release. To celebrate the release of the film and the Spiderland box set, Slint reunited for another brief run of live dates.

Slint play Belfast at The Limelight 2 on Monday August 18th. Tickets go on sale this Friday from all usual outlets.
