New Zealand Ekko Park make Belfast debut

EKKO BW 2014 SQUARENew Zealand Rock Band EKKO PARK will visit Northern Ireland for the first time in September 2014.

The 4 piece Auckland based rock band are best described as “a ship captained by an Irishman and crewed by 3 Kiwis.” Singer Joe Walsh, a born and bred Belfast boy, travelled the globe playing music before settling in NZ where he teamed up with 3 kiwi fellas. A collaboration of diverse backgrounds which formed a unique and explosive offering in the NZ music landscape.

This will be somewhat of a homecoming for lead singer Joe who grew up in Bangor Co Down, went to school in Belfast “I can’t quite believe it but this will be my first show in Belfast since 1998!! I’m so honoured to be bringing Ekko Park to my hometown & there’s an excitement around this show that I haven’t quite felt before. There will be faces old and new, the band’s excited, it’ll be a Rock n Roll party. We can’t wait.”

EKKO PARK have recently enjoyed significant success at home with the release of their debut album Tomorrow Tomorrow Today in November 2013. This album, engineered and co-produced by Andrew Buckton (Crowded House, Midnight Youth, The D4, Clap Clap Riot), entered the Official NZ Album Chart at #15 and was the #5 NZ Album. Always A Fire a single off the album is currently dominating national rock station airwaves and they have recently concluded the New Zealand Science and Survival Tour where they opened for I Am Giant.

Ekko Park will play Voodoo, Belfast on Friday 26th September, access at £8.
