20 Years of Shine presents Richie Hawtin

RICHIE-HAWTINTo celebrate 20 years of Shine, a bank holiday special has been announced with Richie Hawtin for Saturday 2nd May 2015 at QUBSU.

Artist, DJ, conceptualist and ambassador, more than anyone else in modern electronic music, Richie Hawtin has relentlessly proved himself to be a true innovator. The singular driving force behind acclaimed Techno imprints Plus 8 & Minus, and more recently the globally recognised flagship Techno event “Enter.”, returns to Belfast with his Minus imprint to headline the home of Shine at QUB Student Union. Hawtin’s last performance at Shine took place in March 2005, so this bill represents a fitting addition to the 2015 “20 Years Of Shine” events programme.

Born in Oxfordshire, England but growing up in Windsor, Ontario on the other side of the Atlantic, Hawtin was a pivotal figure amongst Detroit techno’s second wave in the early nineties. As the years have gone by – Hawtin can now lay claim to a career that’s spanned nearly three decades – he’s begun to focus more primarily on minimal techno, and he’s widely considered to be one of the genre’s key exponents.

In room 2 on May 2nd, Belfast’s own Techno pioneer, Phil Kieran takes over the Bunatee for a rare start to finish set whilst in room 3 Miniminds make a welcome return with support from James Kirkpatrick.

Tickets on sale now priced from £18! Doors open 9:30pm-3am.  Click here for tickets.
