REVIEW: Paddy Nash & The Happy Enchiladas – Laughter & Love

paddynashLaughter & Love, by Paddy Nash and The Happy Enchiladas is a delicious blend of country, folk, with some hints of gospel—particularly on the track Clichés. Tracks feature male and female vocals, solos, and duets; a bit like The Mamas and the Papas, but with a definitively country slant.

The first harmonic opening notes of the title track, Laughter & Love had me hooked with its summery vibrancy.

There’s a cheekiness mixed with musical prowess in the lyrics. Examples include the animated Boys in Blue, and the potentially controversial, but oh so cool, Adam and Evan—a no holding back tune about same sex marriage in the vein of The Dixie Chicks’ Goodbye Earl.

I’ll Be Done Loving You is a sweet, getting over it duet, Brave features charming chorus and a tidy guitar solo at the bridge, and the bouncy playfulness of Good Conversation is irresistible.

Laughter & Love is stitched together like a patchwork quilt, each colorful piece telling a story, wrapping its warmth around the listener leaving them amused and enchanted. Noelle Ellis, GiggingNI.com
