REVIEW: Rapunzel – Let Your Hair Down

rapzunelLet Your Hair Down”, by newcomers RAPUNZEL is a heavy metal, glam rock fairytale. Night after Night opens this narrative like a prologue segueing suitably into Rapunzel’s Gonna Rock Tonight. [Which, incidentally, is my personal favorite.]

Touches of 80’s glam rock—think Ratt or Motley Crüe-can be heard hear; but then every so often you’ll get a vocal blast akin to Into the Darkness; such as on tracks Rapunzel’s Gonna Rock Tonight, Dragon Slayer, and Metallic Inquisition.

The metal in this heavy metal sound can certainly be heard in the frenzied guitar solos specifically on Hot for Metal Love, Metallic Inquisition, and Metal Heart, coming at you like slashing swords in an epic duel.

There’s a playfulness in the lyrics and vocal delivery, but make no mistake this is a proper rock band, and this is without a doubt good, old-fashioned rock n’ roll. Let Your Hair Down has captured my interest indeed and I’m anxious to see what these lads get up to next. Noelle Ellis, GiggingNI.com
