Sunflowerfest 2015 – The Barn Stage

Dreadzone headlined the Friday night to great delight and a whole host of local acts performed throughout the Sunflowerfest Camp – now onto round two, Saturday 1st August 2015.

With the previous day hosting talent such as Coco and the Butterfields and King Kong Company, Saturday had a lot to live to! With even more local musicians performing and a wealth of activities to do between performances, Saturday was another day to witness Sunflowerfest at it’s finest.

Monsoon Season – 1:05pm – Campfire Stage

What did you make of your appearance at Sunflowerfest this year? “We really enjoyed playing the Campfire Stage on Saturday. The campfire setting was amazing and really suited the chilled out vibe of our music. We couldn’t have picked a better setting if we tried.”

What do you think of Sunflowerfest as a festival?Sunflower Festival was definitely one of our favorite festivals this summer. The staff were very helpful and friendly, especially as we weren’t familiar with the location and we got lost on our way. Monsoon Season 1When we did arrive, we were running around like headless chickens until some kind person directed us to our stage…phew!! The atmosphere within the grounds was very friendly and family orientated so we felt at home straight away. It has to be said as an artists point of view ‘Sunflower Fest’ was very well organised and the crew really treated all artists with great respect so in that regard we will definitely be interested in being involved next year.”

Where can fans find out more about you? “Monsoon Season are really interested in playing some shows within the original music scene in Northern Ireland after playing sunflower festival and we would love everyone to check out us out via these links: Official website – www.monsoonseasonmusic.com &  Facebook www.facebook.com/monsoonseasonmusic

Deany Darko – 6:20pm – Main Stage

What did you make of your appearance at Sunflowerfest this year? “This was the first festival performance for myself with a new line up and over the last few months I had been restructuring my songs to suit the new dynamic of the band so I was absolutely delighted with how well we were received at Sunflowerfest. From the first song I knew I had taken the band in the correct direction. 30 seconds in we had a crowd of guys at the front pull their tee shirts off. Job done.”

What do you think of Sunflowerfest as a festival? “I think in general Sunflowerfest was well run as a festival. It’s obviously heavily geared towards being family friendly and I think in that way they did a great job. I would have no hesitations bringing the family next year.”

The Twisted Sisters on the Campfire Stage at Sunflowerfest 2015.

The Twisted Sisters – 8:25pm – Campfire Stage

What did you make of your appearance at Sunflowerfest this year? “We were totally blown away by the’audiences’ overwhelmingly positive reaction to our twistiness – the vibe was elevated into another dimension! Both our slots, on the Campfire Stage on Saturday night and the Pond Stage on Sunday afternoon, were life affirming in the amount of love, joy, laughter and arms up in the air mighty craic shared with such a fine bunch of festival hallions! And what about the stage invasion – epic!! twistedsisters 8The Sisters had to be revived with smelling salts and drink was took! Our wee ma was demented with excitement at the hundreds of voices joining us in hallionistic harmony – what an immense buzz for us to hear a choir of wonderful Sunflowerfestarians chanting our lyrics – amazing! We salute the audience!!

What do you think of Sunflowerfest as a festival? “Sunflower Fest is the best – it is one of our favourite festivals in the world! We’ve been going since its inception and it just keeps getting better and better – our heads fall off at least 3 times over the festivities! It is a finely tuned superb family friendly weekend of big fun – a perfect balance of music, creativity, culture, love, smiles, laughs; even down to the finer details of cool relaxed security and enthusiastic volunteers. It has everything you need in a festival – great bands and artists, great visuals, good food, real coffee, chill out zone with complementary therapies, movies in the forest, heaps of kids activites, bar, arts and crafts, stalls, campfires, silent disco….even warm showers! Class! The King and Queen of Sunflower Fest, Michael and Vanessa, have an abundance of love and passion for this once a year spectacular extravaganza and we raise our glasses to them and all concerned for all their dedication and hard work. We love Sunflower Fest!”

Screaming Eagles – 9:05pm – Main Stage

What did you make of your appearance at Sunflowerfest this year? “We had a great slot at 9pm on the Main Stage on Saturday night of the festival, perfect time to turn the volume up and give the crowd some high-powered rock n’ roll, everyone seemed to enjoy it and was singing and clapping along by the end, the way rock n’ roll should be.”

What do you think of Sunflowerfest as a festival? “It’s a hidden gem. When people turn up who haven’t been before they get a pleasant surprise, like a mini-Glastonbury hidden away in a valley outside Hillsborough! As a band to play the festival we couldn’t ask for better, the soundmen, equipment and set-up are top-notch, and that’s what’s needed to give people a memorable live music experience. Did I mention the free beer?”
