Creativity, fun and the great outdoors at Sunflowerfest 2016

With more and more parents looking for affordable and entertaining summertime activities for the whole family, Sunflowerfest definitely delivers!

As well as the fabulous line up of both local and international music acts, families can enjoy a full and exciting programme of family entertainment at this year’s festival at Tubby’s Farm, Hillsborough, 5th to 7th August.  Every adult ticket admits 2 children of 15 years or younger for absolutely free.

The theme is Vikings so step back in time and capture young imaginations in our traditional Viking camp with all the ancient crafts, activities and battle re-enactments with Magnus Vikings.  In the dedicated KidsZone there will be a range of free family activities including art and craft workshops, circus skills, bubble trouble, willow sculptures and much more.

Families can enjoy the free interactive performances of Beauty and the Beast in the Enchanted Glade, watch some children’s films in the outdoor cinema; plant some wild seeds or enjoy the nature trails and foraging walks; indulge in some children’s yoga or laughter yoga and enjoy a family-friendly chill out space in our NI Year of Food & Drink tent where you can partake in some cooking demonstrations and tastings or try your hands at crepe making or rolling pizzas with The Big Lunch NI. This year’s Sunflowerfest is certainly shaping up to be an unmissable family experience.

“Sunflowerfest prides itself on being a festival for everyone. Our festival offers the whole family an opportunity to escape for the weekend and enjoy an all-inclusive festival filled with the very best music, arts, crafts and entertainment that Northern Ireland has to offer.”

A bonus for families coming to Sunflowerfest is the free hands-on, educational, and exciting activities for children and young at heart and with the entire festival embracing the Viking theme, festival organisers promise big surprises this summer”.

“We look forward to supporting our new charity partner this year, RSPB Northern Ireland. The RSPB is the UK’s largest nature conservation charity, protecting birds, wildlife and their habitats, as well as inspiring local people to give nature a home where they live”.

RSPB NI’s Community Manager, Tim McCann, commented: “We are delighted to team up with Sunflowerfest this year to give festival goers an amazing experience and raise money to help nature in Northern Ireland at the same time. Surveys show that Tubby’s Farm is home to at least 25 different bird species so nature walks, foraging tours and a bit of beginners’ bird-spotting are just some of the activities visitors will be able to enjoy!”

As always, the music line up at this year’s Sunflowerfest covers all genres with a wide range of local and international acts confirmed for the festival’s six diverse stages… something to suit all tastes.

Weekend tickets are currently priced from £59.50 per adult and each adult ticket admits 2 children aged 15 and younger free. Day tickets to be released once the line up for each day is announced.
