Northern Irish Alternative Rock Band, Black Chapels will be releasing their debut album in the Fall of 2016. To precede the release, the band has been releasing promotional singles with the first of these being ‘Dying Breed’. After a slow harmony driven intro, the song kicks into a tasty groove which brings to mind early career Muse. The solo is concise, but furious burst of musical intensity backed by a lively and upbeat rhythm. The bass has presence and locks in well with the drums, which in turn provide a rock solid foundation for the remainder of the instrumentation. Through the duration of the song, the vocals build into a crescendo of intensity which showcases the strengths in Darren Miller’s voice. There is a pleasing ferocity present in which really amplifies the lyrical content.
My overall impression of Dying Breed and it is the ideal first choice for a lead single. It is a song which perfectly sums up the band, does not overstay its welcome and it is worth many more listens in the future.
