Happy New Year!
We just wanted to take this opportunity to thank every single person who visited the website, liked our Facebook, followed us on Twitter, shared or retweeted or even told someone else verbally about us since our relaunch (and before!). We are very fortunate to be part of something special here in the Northern Ireland music scene. We can be quite a tight-knit bunch when we want to be.
And So I Watch You from Afar rounded the year off nicely in the Limelight, Belfast for most with Katie Lowden on Twitter telling us it “was amazing” and that “every time I see them, they are better than before!” Lucy Mairead described ASIWYFA’s performance as the “best I’ve ever seen them”. Do they ever disappoint?
We have no doubt that next year will be another band’s turn in the spotlight. This year we have seen the rise of bands such as Runaway GO and Trucker Diablo, with huge support slots and festival appearances respectively. There are many more out there we could name but one thing we do know for sure is that next year will provide opportunities for bands to take. Some may seem like a leap of faith. Others too obvious not to take and some you will just have to work at yourself as nothing comes without hard work. Create your own opportunities.
If you don’t already know by now, if anyone needs us to try and help them in any way, do not hesistate to get in touch. We know there can sometimes be a clique around the country, it’s obvious and we try not to be a part of it. We are here to help, not hinder. Everyone deserves a chance. Just be there and ready to take your chance. It may be your first, or your last. But don’t let it be. Always remember what Edison said “Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.”
