Stay straddles the line between pop and rock providing an unpretentious composition. In the way that a sunrise or long highway drives can offer simple pleasures, so too does “Stay” by Foreign Affairs. This young and hungry offering of fundamentals harkens back to garage band early days with punchy guitar riffs, and unfussy vocals and lyrics.
Throughout the drums maintain the mood of the melody. Subtle synthesized sounds of strings slip in during the second refrain cooling it down a bit until the grittier guitar once again takes the reins and shines bright at the bridge. This unassuming tune does ake one curious to see how this freshman class will fare in the future. Noelle Ellis, GiggingNI.com
