Wilko Johnson has had to cancel his Belfast show at Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival due to ill health.
A statement on CQAF Facebook page read:
“Wilko Johnson’s agent has been in touch to say that in light of Wilko’s current condition, his doctor has insisted he cancels all shows over the next few weeks. It’s with huge regret therefore, that we have to inform you that this includes Wilko’s Belfast appearance on Saturday 3 May.
At very short notice, we have been able to secure The Blockheads, one of Wilko’s old bands and a band that also features the genius of Norman Watt-Roy.
Billy MisKimmin’s The Mercy Lounge will also perform as scheduled. We still aim to make 3 May one of the parties of the year in the CQAF Marquee.
We appreciate however that this will be a disappointment to many fans, and we are of course happy to offer refunds. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with a simple request for a refund and this will be automatically made to your credit card.
This process should take no more than a few days. In the case of cash purchases, please contact the Visit Belfast office.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused. Wilko Johnson tearing up the Marquee stage in May was one of the things we were most looking forward to this year, and to say we’re gutted is something of an understatement. We’d like to wish Wilko all the very best from CQAF.”
