Royal Blood have announced details of new Irish tour dates with shows at the Ulster Hall, Belfast on March 8th and Olympia Theatre, Dublin on March 9th 2015.
Recently seen at the Reading, Leeds and Download festivals as well as guests to Arctic Monkeys at two huge shows in London’s Finsbury Park and at Dublin’s Marlay Park, Royal Blood’s reputation is building internationally too with extensive North American touring scheduled as well as strong opening week chart positions in Ireland (#1), Australia (#3) and New Zealand (#6).
Royal Blood is a mixture of anguished vocals, ferocious drumming and bass that provides intricate detail as well as a rumble of rhythm. Royal Blood are the result of a lineage that stretches from present day heroes Queens of the Stone Age to the influential Led Zeppelin, and all the way back to early blues pioneers.
Yet this wall of sound emerges from just two men: Mike Kerr howls venomous lines such as “I’ve got a gun for a mouth and a bullet with your name on it” as his bass elicits a roar that a blind test would predict is the result of multiple musicians. Meanwhile drummer Ben Thatcher complements his band-mate’s attack with the controlled aggression of a young Dave Grohl. Royal Blood wrap the primal essence of ferocious rock ‘n’ roll power around a surprisingly innate ability to craft deft melodies and soaring hooks.
Special guests for both dates are Mini Mansions. They came together via the members’ deep personal interconnections, and in the most organic way possible. Drummer/multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Michael Shuman has been playing music with MM bassist/multi-instrumentalist Zach Dawes since age 11. Both Valley kids grew up in Encino sharing their mutual adoration for all things punk rock, which ultimately paved the path for their future musical endeavors. Tyler Parkford, MM vocalist/keyboardist, entered this tight-knit fold after attending University of California Santa Cruz’s film program with Dawes.
