Wookalily announce debut album launch party
Wookalily will be performing one very special show at Yard 401, Little Donegal Street, Belfast on Saturday 29th November 2014 to launch the physical and digital release of their debut album “all the waiting while”.
The record has been much anticipated as the band have been gigging relentlessly since the release of their EP in 2011, building a committed fan base. The aim was to record a debut album with past and present members of the band. It’s therefore a snapshot of the life and times of Wookalily and now the waiting is over! Twelve diverse songs with catchy melodies, powerful instrumentation and inviting vocals.
With the release of this debut album, the band is preparing a tour that will feature radio promotion and concerts around the UK, Ireland and further afield in the US in 2015.
The launch in Belfast will be their last concert in the city this year featuring the 4-piece band, it will showcase various guitars, banjos, percussion instruments, djembe, mandolin and much more. There will also be special guest performances from well known singers Elaine McConaghie, Nina Armstrong, Rowena Cairns, Catherine Grehan and much sought after musicians Suzanne Savage on fiddle, Rohan Armstrong on double bass and Colin Henry on dobro, all who have contributed their talents to the album.
Their song “diamonds on gold” which will feature on “all the waiting while” won them an invite to perform a songwriter’s showcase at the prestigious IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) World of Bluegrass Festival in Nashville 2012. They were also invited by ‘Country Music Hall of Famer’ Dixie Hall to record her song “To A Dove” for the Daughter’s of Bluegrass album “Pickin’ like a Girl” released 2013. The girls were delighted to be the only band outside of the US to feature on this album alongside their heroes Pam Tillis, Sierra Hull, Stella Parton (Dolly’s sister), Anna Maybelle Cash (Johnny’s granddaughter) and Dixie Hall herself. There will be a scan code on the debut album linking to “to a dove” as a bonus track.
