The Darkness have confirmed a full Ireland tour in 2015, stopping off at Derry’s Nerve Centre on March 7th.
Legendary glam rockers The Darkness exploded into the public consciousness for both their unique brand of glammed-up rock and outrageous stage costumes when their debut album Permission To Land shot to number one, spawning new rock anthems including ‘Love Is Only A Feeling’, ‘I Believe In A Thing Called Love’ and ‘Growing On Me’.
The Suffolk rockers reformed in 2011 after a five-year break, with members of the original line-up Justin Hawkins (vocals/guitars), Dan Hawkins (guitars/backing vocals), Frankie Poullain (bass) and Emily Dolan Davies joining as a new member on drums.
Following the release of their debut album Permission To Land, The Darkness have been honoured with a string of awards including an Ivor Novello, four Kerrang! Awards, twoMetal Hammer Awards, an MTV Europe Music Award and even an Elle Style Award for being the ‘Most Stylish Band’! Celebrating the 12th anniversary of their legendary number one debut album – which garnered the band 3 Brit Awards – are still broadly representative of the band’s signature sound.
2015 sees the band release their fourth album, provisionally titled Cliffhanger, scheduled for release in March 2015. It follows the band’s 2012 comeback Hot Cakes, and also marks the debut of the band’s new drummer, Emily Dolan Davies, who replaced founding member Ed Graham in late 2014.
The Darkness play Derry’s Nerve Centre on 7th March 2014. Tickets are on sale now from: Ticketmaster.co.uk priced £16 plus booking fee.
