Ellie Goulding & John Newman among acts to join Harris at Vital

tvital1Tennent’s Lager and MCD last night announced that superstar DJ Calvin Harris will headline Tennent’s Vital 2015, and joining him on Saturday 29th August at Boucher Road Playing Fields are special guests Ellie Goulding, John Newman, Disciples and Burns.

English singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ellie Goulding’s career has sky rocketed over the past few years, with the star propelled to stratospheric heights following the release of her second album Halcyon in 2012. Topping the UK Album Chart and debuting in the Billboard 200’s Top 10, the album showcased a new sound for the singer, and with a sold out UK arena tour and total sales topping over three million albums and fifteen million singles, the songstress is an extraordinary talent.

Also joining the ultra-impressive Tennent’s Vital bill is John Newman, who in 2012, a year before his first solo material had even seen the light of day, scored a number 1 single, and had written and sung on two of the biggest dance hits to storm the UK charts in years: Rudimental’s massive number 1 Feel The Love and the powerfully anthemic follow up Not Giving In. 2013 saw the release of his first solo album Tribute, which entered the UK Album Chart at number 1. The album produced John’s debut solo single, Love Me Again, nominated for a Brit Award for British Single of the Year and a 2014 Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically. Blame, his 2014 collaboration with Tennent’s Vital headliner Calvin Harris, entered the UK Singles Chart at number 1, earning the DJ his seventh number 1 and the singer his third.

London producer trio Disciples released their Remedy EP to critical acclaim in 2013 and have garnered credits from influential DJs including Pete Tong, Annie Mac and Zane Lowe. Signed to DJ Pete Tong’s FFRR Records the trio’s most recent track They Don’t Know featured as BBC Radio 1’s Track of the Day, and they’re sure to get the Tennent’s Vital crowd dancing on Saturday 29th August.

English DJ and producer BURNS collaborated with Ellie Goulding on Midas Touch, a cover of Midnight Star’s track, featured on the re-release of her album Halcyon Days. Having toured with deadmau5 and Calvin Harris, and performed residencies in Vegas, his track Lies was featured on the BBC Radio 1 playlist for 7 consecutive weeks.

This year’s Tennent’s Vital line-up is shaping up to be a musical collective, with long-time collaborators Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding having worked with the rest of the bill throughout their careers – Calvin Harris’ successful recordings with John Newman are proven chart successes, while BURNS featured on the re-release of Ellie Goulding’s album and secured a coveted support slot on Harris’ UK tour.

Tennent’s Vital 2014 saw a top line-up including The Killers, David Guetta, Steve Angello, Bastille and more play to tens of thousands of music fans at Boucher Road Playing Fields, and next year’s event will once again bring some of the best musical talent on the planet to Belfast over the August bank holiday weekend for an unforgettable festival experience.
