REVIEW: Luke Williams – Borders

lukewilliamsThe EP, “Borders” is a self-reflective, soulful offering by Luke Willams. This interior dialogue beings with the track SolaceFalling Away is the break up song which segues nicely into Darling Please, a lovely post-break up lament with guitar picking falling like thick wet tears.

Seekers ushers in hopeful lyric and tempo; whereas Premonitions is raw, stripped down and somber. Letters to Friends and Mountains feature a more commercial potential with its neo-folk sounds in similar fashion to Passenger, or Tired Pony.

Vocally fragile if not at times gravelly, yet always sincere; a cross between Foy Vance and Colin Hay. There are as well some fetching guest female vocalists that make for some charming harmonies in choruses of Mountains and Seekers. Noelle Ellis,
