REVIEW: Olly Murs – Odyssey Arena, Belfast
No-one can deny that Olly Murs doesn’t put blood, sweat and tears into each of his shows (quite literally the pop-star bled on stage in his typical well-known accident prone fashion last night).
Olly had a triumphant return to a sold out Odyssey Arena in Belfast on Tuesday with his Never Been Better Tour; treating fans to a mixture of classics, covers and some new material. As well as some cheeky dance moves and some (not so family friendly) innuendos. Olly put on a visual spectacle with a large stage which extended right to the back of the arena. Pyros, spotlights, a full band and some amazing videos pulled the while show together in style.
With a somewhat slow start for Olly’s lesser known song Did You Miss Me and a quick sing along to Right Place Right Time by the time Olly had hit his well-known Seasons track he had the crowd on their feet, dancing and hanging on to every note. That’s where the majority of the arena remained for the rest of the night.
He settled into the performance and he truly looked like he enjoyed every moment of it. Moving down to the middle of the arena with a sentimental tear-jerking performance of Dear Darlin’ to quickly be followed with a hip thrusting body shaking funk medley culminating in an epic version of Uptown Funk.
The show was kept at a fast pace and was fun and dare I say it cheesy but in a boyband/we love you Olly kind of way. Olly should be very proud of his arena performance it captured everything a good (if a bit girlie) night out should have; dancing, giggling and reminiscing. The pop star made a quick nod to his rumoured return to the X-factor last night (fingers crossed).
So over all Mr Murs you’ve never been better! I wish you luck on the rest of the Tour! Review and photos by Emer Dooris, GiggingNI.com
