Beat Root’s three days of alternative roots music this September
Beat Root brings the very best of alternative roots music to Belfast over three days in September – 3rd, 4th and 5th.
This first year we are thrilled to present a line-up featuring the Furrow Collective (Emily Portman, Alasdair Roberts, Lucy Farrell, and Rachel Newton), Filastine & Nova; delivering the grittiest transnational bass music around with their live A/V show, our very own Robyn G Shiels, and Newcastle’s skewed troubadour, Richard Dawson (“English folk equivalent of Captain Beefheart’s deconstruction of the blues” The Guardian)
It’s a serious brew of ‘old-folk’, ‘new-folk’, ‘world’, ‘balladry’, and ‘electronics’. Mostly though, it’s good old-fashioned storytelling though incredible music, and we hope you enjoy!
The event is a continuation of Moving On Music’s run of ‘weekenders’ celebrating 20 years of music promotion. The weekenders began with 3 days of Electronic Music in June and will continue with a ‘New Music’ series in November, showcasing of the very best contemporary music artists on the island, in November.
In the meantime let’s enjoy Beat Root, taking place Thursday 3rd to Saturday 5th September in the Crescent Arts Centre.
