Having just finished a short UK run of dates supporting Modest Mouse, playing the Calling Festival main stage alongside Ryan Adams & Noel Gallagher and then storming T in the Park, Elle King releases driving single “Last Damn Night” in August, ahead of her shows at Reading & Leeds festival and headline outing at The Lexington on September 1st. She will swiftly follow these UK dates by embarking on the mammoth James Bay UK tour (full run of dates below).
Frank and fearless, tender and rowdy, this marks the true arrival of the young singer & guitarist as a force to be reckoned with. Raised in rural Ohio, before relocating to New York via Art College in Philadelphia, King started playing guitar at age 13; “I wanted to play rock and roll and be a girl and do it. I started listening to the Runaways and Blondie—all the rad chicks.”
This desire becomes evident from the first driving moments of “Last Damn Night” which she wrote and performed with Patrick Carney of the Black Keys, Patrick Keeler of The Raconteurs and Mark Ronson.
