Silences to headline at the Bar Sub this April

Hotly tipped Northern Irish Indie five piece Silences are pleased to announce their headline Belfast show on Friday 15th April at Bar Sub, QUB.

Hailing from Armagh in Northern Ireland, Silences are Conchúr White, Christopher Harbinson, Breándan White, Jonathan Downing and Michael Keyes. The band have featured on BBC Radio 1, RTE Other Voices and have received critical acclaim for their debut E.P. ‘Nevernames’ and the subsequent release ‘Sister Snow’. Silences will release their 3rd EP ‘Luna’ on April 15th 2016.

Working closely with producer Declan Legge, they have managed to capture a sound that ‘Goldenplec’ has described as: “a lesson in understated inventiveness that quickly charms the listener into willing surrender”. Comparisons have been drawn to the likes of Death Cab for Cutie, Jeff Buckley, Villagers and Coldplay.

Less than a year after their inception as a five piece group and having already played the Other Voices Other Room in Derry, Silences were asked to perform on the Other Voices stage at Electric Picnic 2014 alongside Hozier, St Vincent and Laura Mvula.

In December 2014 they were invited to play Huw Stephen’s (BBC Radio 1) Christmas party in The Social in London. Both their debut single ‘Santa Cruz’ and the follow up ‘Sister Snow’ have had Radio 1 play with Phil & Alice and Huw Stephens respectively. ‘Sister Snow’ was also playlisted and charted on Amazing Radio.

Silences were chosen by the British Council’s Selector radio station to represent New UK Music in their “Uk music on the go” advertising campaign. The band’s image and lyrics to “The Sea” were on the sides of buses, bus stations and universities across 4 major cities in China. They were the most popular band of the campaign. Silences are also working with one of the top Sync Agents in L.A., Secret Road and have had their track ‘The Sea’ on the series finale of ABC Family’s Chasing Life.

Highlights of 2015 so far include the release of their new single ‘The Sea’ which clocked up 20,000 plays on Soundcloud in 2 months, 2 very successful shows at The Great Escape in May, a packed out official show at Reeperbahn festival in Hamburg and playing the Body and Soul main stage at Electric Picnic. They have over 1 million streams on Spotify. In November 2015 they supported The Coronas on their highly successful UK tour finishing with a packed house in the 2000 capacity Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London.
