Ghost is the debut single from latest solo artist to hit our music scene, Roisin Donald (or ROE). 17 year old Derry born singer songwriter, no stranger to the gig scene however in uncharted territory with this realise of Ghost.
Ghost is a quiet little acoustic number, filled with chilled vibes, running with a very simplistic tune and a very catchy chorus. The most impressive part of the song is how lyrically strong it is, providing some deep lines I’m sure will resonate with a lot of listeners. It’s a very refreshing listen, bringing song writing back to the basics with good old story telling, making you connect with it, rather than throwing out a pile of pretentious lines hoping to find meaning somewhere while you get lost in its translation.
ROE is currently working on more songs to add to her catalogue, a pretty exciting prospect for sure, as Ghost sounds more like a song a seasoned songwriter would produce, not a 17 year old relatively new to this sort of thing.
If you are looking for something mellow, something new to listen too that will get caught in your head, trust me on this one and give Ghost a listen. Brilliantly composed, excellent lyrics and a strong, soothing voice to firmly propel ROE into a much deserved limelight.
I’m sure you will agree with me after you listen to Ghost, this young singer songwriter could be one to watch in the future.
