Stand-up star, David O’Doherty, brings his latest show, We Are All in the Gutter, But Some of Us Are Looking at David O’Doherty, back to the Ulster Hall by popular demand on Friday 17 June.
Comedy’s Lidl Enya and broken Bublé looks forward to regaling local fans with chat and songs played on a keyboard from 1986.
According to David, life is like a box of chocolates, but one where somebody else has eaten all the chocolates and replaced them with mouse heads and dishwasher tablets.
David O’Doherty wanted to become a professional cyclist, then a professional jazz musician, but an almost complete lack of talent in these areas meant that he became a professional telemarketer, ringing up strangers to ask them to rate things out of ten.
David won widespread acclaim with stand-up comedy audiences in 2005 supporting Tommy Tiernan and Rich Hall on their Irish tours. He soon won critical acclaim for his 2006 Edinburgh Fringe if comedy award – nominated show, David O’Doherty is my name. He went one better two years later when Let’s Comedy won him the if.com Edinburgh Fringe Best Show award.
As well as his stand-up tours, David has been entertaining TV audiences on QI, Have I Got News For You, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Would I Lie to You and Never Mind the Buzzcocks.
