Belfast based artist, Rebekah Fitch is due to release her eagerly anticipated debut single ‘Stroke of Genius’ at the end of this month. An up and coming singer-song writer, Rebekah has been performing since a young age and has already made quite an impression playing gigs throughout her hometown and also in Durham where she is currently studying music.
‘Stroke of Genius’ which begins in the highest gear with the opening chords of the song immediately setting the tone with its raucous and enthusiastic melody introduces us to Rebekah’s sound and style. Influenced by artists such as Florence and the Machine and Lana Del Rey, Rebekah is unmistakably inspired by notable melodies which is incredibly evident throughout. It is almost impossible to not find yourself being swept along by the undeniably catchy and explosive chorus and is certainly a song you will find yourself having on repeat again and again. The distinctive sound of the base drum is infectious inciting a sense of drama and excitement to her refrain which makes for the perfect quintessential pop song.
It is incredibly clear from the outset that Rebekah is an immensely talented vocalist displaying a huge vocal range and exuding her emotional aptitude throughout the song. Playing since she was 15 years old and spending a lot of time in the streets of Belfast busking Rebekah certainly knows how to create a song that will capture an audience’s attention. ‘Stroke of Genius’ is an exceptionally intelligible and established song for a debut and conveys an artist who has undoubted potential with her song writing abilities.
