Self-titled album by three piece Belfast rock band Alpha Twin is a back to basics rock to metal crossover. Power vocals, crashing drums, rapid guitar, and grinding bass rip through these tracks with razor-sharp precision. A fresh take blending with vintage reminiscence of early days of Black Sabbath and The Cult.
Ecstasy is the stand out single in this line up with its nimble bass licks and attention grabbing vocals. Audio Bomb is the track that takes me back to early days of Sabbath, recalling in particular the song Evil Woman. Not quite an homage, but a novel take on tried and true hard rock stylings. Erosion of the Face features an unexpected killer guitar bridge. It’s the combination of bass line and vocals that remind me of The Cult; especially on tracks, You Make Me Feel Down, and Ecstasy.
This vigorous, crank-it-up worthy collection is destined to become a classic. With feet firmly rooted in classic rock formulas, and an obvious devotion to the music, I can expect great things to come for Alpha Twin. A fine addition to rock lover’s playlists.
