Review: Al Black – Sunshine Through Dirty Windows
Al Black, Irish singer song writer released his new EP ‘Sunshine Through Dirty Windows’. With a theme of contrasting life’s darker subjects with hope, ‘Sunshine Through Dirty Windows’ captivates you from the track to the last.
This EP has a more raw and stripped back sound compared to his debut EP ‘Proof of Life?’ and a great change showing us that Al has more than one sound.
The contrast of melody and lyrics is brave, and it works. The lyrics are about life’s darker subjects combined with a melody that almost sounds like a lullaby for tracks such as “Petrified” & “Ghost of Me”.
The stripped back melody, lyrics, smooth tempo and Al’s indie rock style voice all mixed together, makes, in my opinion, great car journey music. This will definitely be on my playlist as a calming sound in those pesky traffic jams.
To be honest I cannot pick a favourite track from the EP, as I feel that as one track finishes and another starts they all seem to compliment each other with a smooth flow and ease.
