Review: Lavengro – Think

Lavengro, the pop rock band from Derry, have come a long way since forming in 2015. The Derry guys have a lot to brag about including being N.I’s Best Up & Coming Act 2016 and gaining a spot on the Sunflowerfest main stage in 2017.  They have been raising anticipation for live performances and their latest single “Think” certainly helps matters.

The instrumental intro is very reminiscent of Coldplay’s Mylo Xyloto album which is consistent throughout the track.  The theme of the song is about betrayal in a relationship to which the lead singer undeniably conveys the raw emotion of the topic.

The direct juxtaposition of a difficult subject matter with an upbeat tempo gives the single an extra edge that sets is aside from being a generic breakup song.  Mix this with brilliant harmonies, a strong bassline and memorable riffs you have a track that you can both sing and dance to whilst feeling like you can relate to the lyrics.

Whilst listening to this song all I could think is I’d love to see this live with a beer in my hand.  They’re definitely a band to watch in 2018 to see what else they bring to the NI music scene.
