In 1930’s Paris, Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli started playing Hot Jazz and Big Band Swing as a small string ensemble known as the “Quintette du Hot Club de France”. Their music, which became known as ‘Jazz Manouche’, or ‘Gypsy Jazz’, has experienced a revival throughout the world in recent years.

In Belfast, guitarist Nicolas Deschatrettes has been promoting Gypsy Jazz for the past 7 years through his band Manouche, formed with fellow guitarist Robert Stuka, they have played at festivals and events throughout Ireland and the UK. Nicolas wanted to showcase the talented musicians that he was able to meet and play with at festivals such as the Cloughtoberfest and Django-sur-Lennon, and from that The Hot Strings Quartet was born.

For one night only, the Hot Strings quartet brings together some of the best Gypsy Jazz musicians from Ireland to Belfast for an evening of music and dance, with: Fintan Gilligan (guitar, vocals), Rudy Bado (violin), Jose Carlos Anselmo (bass) and Nicolas Deschatrettes (guitar).
