Northern Irish music label Quiet Arch to celebrate fourth birthday
Belfast based music label Quiet Arch celebrates 4 years of success by throwing a birthday party with special performances from their acts in Elmwood Hall on December, 21st.
Belfast based music label Quiet Arch is celebrating it’s fourth birthday in style – with a big birthday bash in the Elmwood Hall where their artists will give special performances which will be recorded live! You may have spotted the name Quiet Arch around they have released over 10 critically acclaimed albums and achieved over 100 million Spotify streams in their short 4 year existence. Founded by Lyndon Stephens with a small roster of acts in 2014, the Quiet Arch family has grown quite a bit, recently hiring Francesca O’Connor as head of the label, Aine Cronin-McCartney as part of the management company and Sinead Green in accounting as well as partnering with Believe for international distribution. Quiet Arch currently has six albums in production – 2019 will see album releases from Malojian, Beauty Sleep, Ryan Vail and Joshua Burnside.
Lyndon’s vision was to create a label that worked with the best emerging Northern Irish artists and he evidently keeps picking the winning horse – Quiet Arch albums have won the NI Music Prize 2 years in a row (Joshua Burnside with EPHRATA in 2017 and Ciaran Lavery with Let Bad In , 2016). Ten Quiet Arch albums in total have achieved the shortlist, three this year (Ciaran Lavery with Sweet Decay, Malojian with Let Your Weirdness Carry You Home and Ryan Vail with Distorted Shadows) putting Quiet Arch in good position for a hat trick.
Quiet Arch releases have garnered support from tastemakers across the globe including Spotify, BBC 6Music and BBC Radio One and on the management side Quiet Arch has seen their artists regularly perform internationally, including showcases at the likes of SXSW and The Great Escape. Part of Quiet Arch’s greatest success is tackling the gender inequality in the music industry head on with Lyndon training up women, resulting in a majority female led team in Quiet Arch, as well as working with female musicians and songwriters on their roster in both Beauty Sleep and Joshua Burnside.
It’s exciting to have a night dedicated to celebrating all of this talent and success, and it seems like Quiet Arch is going all out. Showcasing their current acts with promised ‘one off special performances’ which will be recorded live in the impressive Elmwood Hall, compere by poet Stephen James Smith, Joshua Burnside performing with an 8 piece band and Ryan Vail being joined by the Arco String Quartet and ‘more surprises’ on the night.
