Roe shares music video for new single ‘GIRLS’

Northern Ireland Music Prize award winner releases thought provoking video for her latest single, ‘Girls’.

After gaining 20k streams in its first week of release, ROE has released the simple yet thought provoking video for her latest single, ‘Girls’. Railing against the pressures of perfection often presented through social media and the “influencer” generation, the video was shot and directed by award winning filmmaker, Sean Mullan.

“The concept behind the ‘Girls’ video is basically the idea of putting on a face for the whole world to hide who you really are. Most of us are guilty of hiding behind this veil of perfection online when that’s not how things actually are. I thought that it would be uncomfortable but fun to visualise this as one big extremity.”

ROE

“Using a choreographed dance with hands and a highly saturated colour palette. Myself and Roe wanted to challenged the often aggressive and harmful effects of how much pressure women can put on themselves to match perceived ideals and societal demands.”

The new release comes in the middle of a busy year for the young songwriter. She kicked off the year with radio spins on Today FM,  Huw Stephens “BBC Introducing tips for 2019” on Radio 1, was announced as one of the key artists on RTE2FMs 2019 “Rising”, performed her first shows in the US at SXSW 19, and has some huge supports coming up with Snow Patrol, Kodaline, Tom Odell and The Coronas.

‘GIRLS’ is available worldwide via all major digital retailers through Fictive Kin Records.
